Cyclopean buildings

The most formidable building defensive walls of Mycenae and Tiryns, Sardinian towers, religious buildings Balearic Islands and the island of Malta, the ancient Mexican and Peruvian architecture. The ruins of cyclopean structures are in Mesopotamia, India, Transcaucasia, Crimea, Tajikistan, Siberia. Who and at what time built these enormous edifices, it is not known. Interestingly, some architectural elements of the buildings is clearly “not” the common man is too tall stair treads, huge doorways and Windows, huge stone benches, etc.

Tiryns, an ancient city in the Argolid (Greece), birthplace of the legendary Hercules. The first settlement on this place existed in the Neolithic period. Agiscono according to the myth, the fortress was built by giants: Seven Revoluci Cyclopes came from Lycia to king Tripssono Rocks and built of huge stones of the keep of the city.

In the beginning of the 2nd Millennium BC Tiryns became the capital of the state of the Achaeans. The city was surrounded by strong stone walls referred to by Homer in “the Iliad” and later described by Pausanias (“Description of Greece”). The thickness of the fortified towers of the fortress walls in some places reaches 10 and even 17 meters, inside them were the living quarters, storage for food orujii. From the fortress underground passage led to the water source. Tiryns during the invasion of the Dorians was burned. In the 1st Millennium BC Tiryns remained a small policy. About 470 BC, the city was finally destroyed by Argostoli.

In the middle and late bronze age on the island of Sardinia unknown “architects” erected towers of huge stones, called “Nuraghi”. They are oval in shape, the inner chamber covered with a false vault. These fortified buildings of different size – from one-bedroom one-story buildings to 20-meter tapering upwards “skyscrapers” with additional turrets. Nuraghe were connected by underground passages and were surrounded by stone walls. Under the ground there were living quarters and warehouses for products and transitions.

Nuraghe are typically found in areas where he conducted the production of copper products. According to Professor Giovanni Lilylou, build from huge stones such facilities, aged about 3,600 years, could only people were giants.

Malta has been inhabited since 5 century BC, a mysterious highly advanced civilization left behind many monuments and buildings of huge stone blocks weighing up to 30 tons. The most famous one is the temple of Hypogeum in Hal-o Saflieni.

On the Islands of Malta and Gozo preserved magnificent megalithic temples – the sanctuary of stone Hal-Tarxien, Hagner-Kim, are, of Mgarr, Ggantija. Gigantea (translated from Maltese – “the giant’s tower”) is the oldest of them. According to legends, this building was erected by a woman of gigantic stature, able to lift and place the huge stones. During the excavation of the temple, archaeologists found an unusual stone statuette, depicting a woman with a curvaceous reclining on a bed. Perhaps this is the Builder of cyclopean structures.

Figurines “thick goddess” discovered quite a lot. According to one legend, the island of Malta was a kind of sacred place where the goddess resided-the giant Sansone (Saracen). It is believed that she bore on her head the huge boulders from the cliffs of TA-Chencha, when they built their temple to Gigantia. In the right hand Sansone held a stone slab, and the left was carrying his baby great-grandfather of the current gozitans, i.e. ordinary people.

In Malta there is another attraction. Bird’s eye view you can see hundreds of mysterious furrows, which, like the rails that cross the island in different directions. The furrow width of 63 to 123 cm, depth 70 cm. These marks on the rocks to cross the high hills and have continued on the bottom of the sea. Many of them parallel to each other and sometimes merge into one track. Which meant the network of these lines is unknown. It is noteworthy that on Easter island, the researchers found the same groove in the ground, stretching into the depths of the ocean. Perhaps these giant figures are similar to the geoglyphs of the Nazca desert in South America, to consider that now is not possible – they were flooded when the level of the oceans.

Megalithic structures existed in Russia. Of particular interest is the devil’s ancient settlement, located not far from Kozelsk in the Kaluga region. Hieromonk Leonid in the book “History of the Church within the current Kaluga region” describes this place:

Not far from the ancient Rauza in the wilderness of the forest… there is a wonderful place – these are the ruins of some historical buildings, which consumed the stones of great magnitude, taken, apparently, from afar, because close to the stone brittle. The building was listed on the large space and tiled to half of the Windows. around at a considerable distance are the same large stones, and some of them are scattered in the same direction, towards the building field. The antiquity of this building show the century-old trees, growing within her, and long moss-grown wall. People’s imagination inhabits this mysterious place of spirits, calling it “devil’s ancient settlement”.

In the late nineteenth century the correspondent of “Kaluga gubernia news” visited devil’s Fort and also saw on the hill cyclopean construction of giant stones: the Road was at first an ordinary dense forest, then opened up before us a valley with a ditch at the bottom, and after SIM the steep ascent of a high mountain…. On the way to the mountain we come across the unusual size of the stones. Climbing, or rather scarykiuys higher up the mountain, on the cliff we saw a large stone wall, covered with moss on the sides and trees at the top. At first glance shows that this construction has existed since time immemorial, but now there were the semblance of a house. Wall composed of huge stones. On the right side of this wall appears to be some kind of a porch. Under the house, or rather, wall, is a cave with two exits, one of which, according to tradition, goes to the Good of the monastery that lihvina. The place where this building is located in the middle of nowhere, far from any habitation, except for forest watch-boxes. During the inspection of the “settlement” unwittingly takes thought and puzzled how it was possible to build a wall of rocks, from which to raise everyone seems unable of a thousand people before they strike their incredible value. The same stones in disarray scattered about the walls.

Another mystery of ancient history – the Grand pyramid. Pyramids and pyramidal structures in the past were built in many regions of the world: Africa (on the territory of the former state of Meroe), the black sea region (mounds of Ukraine and Crimea, which previously had the form of pyramids), England (hill Salisbury hill), Canary Islands (the Guanches of the pyramid), China (earthen pyramidal structures with a height up to 300 meters, located North of XI’an city), Malaysia and the Pacific Islands. Most pyramids are located in South America (Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Peru), currently there are more than 200. In Russia the pyramidal structures found in the Altai, the far East and the Caucasus. Archeologists discovered in Charyshskoe of Altai district of the burial structure of stepped form, lined with stone. Built in the V century BC, in structure they resemble the pyramids of the Yucatan Peninsula and Peru. Special passages and manholes provided priests with access to the interior of the pyramids.

Angkor Wat is the General name of majestic temples, palaces, reservoirs in Cambodia located near the border with Siam on lake Telecare and covering an area of about 260 square kilometers. The biggest of them is the Angkor Wat, Nakhon Wat and Angkor Thom. Many extant temples were erected on the older foundations and faithfully replicate a previous structure. The existence of this grandiose complex of 200 buildings for the first time told the world in 1601 Spanish missionary Marcelo Ribandar, who, wandering in the jungle, stumbled upon the ancient ruins. The opening of Ribandar then don’t believe, since traditions of the Khmer Rouge did not allow them to build stone buildings. Ancient buildings show that previously there existed a highly developed civilization. According to Khmer legend, the construction of the palaces of the God Indra instructed divine architect of Preah Posoco, “whose power and learning were endless”. It is estimated that the construction of temples was used the same number of stones, how much went into the construction of the pyramid of Khafre in Egypt. Central Angkor Wat temple symbolizes the sacred mount Meru – “the center of the Universe and the home of the gods”.
